About the Artist Colony

Artist Colony at the Esplanade

17 artists in 3 studio/galleries

Beautiful Marco Island, Florida is the largest and the northernmost of the 10,000 islands.  Gulf waters lap beautiful sugar sand beaches, palm trees sway gently in the sub-tropical breeze and wildlife abounds.  The island is only four by six miles but has much to offer.  Newest among Marco's delights is the Artist Colony at the Esplanade.

17 diverse and dedicated professional artists combined forces to create Marco Island's first Artist Colony. Embraced by the Esplanade's visionary management team as an innovative and exciting fit to their existing community of shops, residences, award-winning restaurants, and marine services, the Artist Colony provides an excellent opportunity to experience, first-hand, art in its making. The Colony is also made possible through the joint efforts of the Art League Marco Island Center for the Arts and the Marco Island Foundation for the Arts.

Portside and Rightside studio-galleries are actually 8 working artist studios, each with adjoining gallery spaces; Waterfront Gallery exhibits the work of 9 other Island artists.

Wander among the colonnades, fountains, and courtyards, and immerse yourself in paintings, sculpture, digital imagery, assemblage and collage, photography, ceramics, concrete art, and mixed media. All work is original and all work is available for purchase, or perhaps you'll want to consider commissioning your own, uniquely personal, piece of art.

As the sun sets, enjoy an outdoor cocktail at the Star Bar, the centerpoint on the Esplanade's 1,100' of Smokehouse Bay waterfront, and plan your next trip to see what's new at the Artist Colony at the Esplande, because every day there's something new.
